Weird Wednesday

Sorry, but I have nothing that isn't completely ugly to post today. I'm still working on my story. Just so you know, it's in first person, so it's really hard to keep in the proper tense. But it's starting to come along a bit quicker. I apologize for the lack of artwork, but when an artist can't draw, they can't draw. So don't be pushy, or you'll end up with bad work and an angry artist. In the meantime, I think we're finally going grocery shopping tomorrow. YES!
...
I'm going to get back to writing.

Tuesday Tunes

I'm not sure if I can get something done for today. It's not that I'm not working, it's just not my usual type of work. I'm trying to write a short story. It's really hard for me to write this, because it's such a sensitive topic, and I'm really not in a good mood for lack of groceries in this house. So if you haven't guessed, I'm a bit testy today.

In the meantime, this song is what is keeping me writing.
I really don't like the topic it's keeping me writing about, but I'm feeling led to do this.

Movie Madness Monday

Ok, so I cheated. I just colored last week's picture. OHWELL. My blog, my rules, so there. his main fur color is murder. I didn't have the brown/orange color so I tried to make it.
Two words

Never

Again

I am SO ready to go get some markers! I hope to afford a nice 24 piece travel set, but considering the could cost $50.00 or more, I may be stuck. Also considering the store may not have it, worries me. I work with prismacolor, just so y'all know. Why? Cause I started with their pencils, and they're half the price of copics. And just so you know, the prismacolor markers cost about $4 a piece. I've never worked with copics, but I'm afraid I'm starting to see why they're so good. =(

I hate myself. -.-
Why do I have to look at other's opinions? *sigh* I think I'm going to be looking at copics. I'll wait till there's a sale and wait a bit for that manga paper... O.o I just looked at a set price. I'm gonna go throw up now. Now that I've signed up to get a weekly email from the store I buy supplies from, I hope to get a magic coupon to get a great deal on some markers.

I want copics now.

Sunday Sketches

So Friday was not a good day. And Saturday wasn't that great either. I tried, I really did, to get something done on Friday, I was just so unhappy with it I couldn't. I'm sorry, but failing that bad gives me art block, but I manage to bring you these. I drew this on the back of a monthly calendar I got with my bulletin. The very left one I did during service, and the rest were done once I got home. It's very blue isn't it? Once again, sorry for missing Flashback Friday. I will try my best to get something done for tomorrow.

Thursday Three

Well, just two at the moment. I'll update the post when I have my third scan done. I really can't believe I had an art blog for almost two whole weeks and not even posted a single scan of this girl. I call her the Minstrel, for lack of a fitting name, but it suits her well. Her suit is usually a v-neck, but I changed it just for this one. I kindof like it, but will probably end up making it shorter in future stuff. I've been drawing the Minstrel for a looooong time. I've tested all of my potential styles on her. I've drawn her about twenty times in this sketch book alone. She only ever wears this and a little dress. Emphasis on the 'little', it really isn't much of one, but it's cuteand fun to draw.
More about the pictures. The first is the initial character sketch. Very rough and needs some work, but a good start. The second is the ink. Notice I didn't ink the patterns on her clothes, and I added guidelines for glitter on the top part. I also slimmed her neck and torso, which I felt made her look to stocky for her height. I meant to scan it before I colored anything, but colored the skin before I remembered. The scanner ruined my skin tone, btw, it looks a lot less pink on the original (and yes, her face is supposed to be white). Now for the third, I'm just going to color in the black areas of her suit and sketch a background (you really shouldn't ink a background, pulls away from the subject).
I'm going to try to get more markers (I only have this skin tone and black) with my birthday money, as well as some more pens. And, if all goes according to plan, I should have three scans for Flashback Friday. :)
EDIT: Uploaded scan with background. The rainbow lines of DEATH followed, however... -.-

Weird Wednesday

This is how I feel today. I tried and erased about three ideas for today's post, but couldn't come up with something good... Looking back, the pencil's twist is all awkward and wrong and you can still see the head's guidelines. Oh well, I'm not fixing it now. I tried something new with the coloring, it's ok, but not great. For those of you who were looking forward to something creepy, here. Don't know what it's supposed to be about, but it (hopefully) makes up for the lack of weird drawn by me. I just now noticed how crooked the whole thing is. -.- BUTIT'SCOLORED! ... Doesn't really fix it much... I'll try to crank out something of higher quality tomorrow.

Tuesday Tunes

Hello! This is just a quick sketch of (what I think to be) Kale's daughter from the Dragonkeeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul. If you haven't read these books, you should run out of your house and buy them this instant, they are AWESOME. I'm not going to tell you who the dad is, cause it's plot spoiling stuff, and I hate it when people do that to me. You know, when you tell people you're reading a book and they go, 'cool! have you gotten to the (zohmigoodness HUGE plot spoiler!!!!) part yet?' and you go '... no.' -.- Best thing to do, you accidental plot spoiling persons, is to ask what part they've gotten to. Anyways, I have no idea what her name is (there isn't one suggested in the book), but I've decided that she's a Dragonkeeper and an Air Wizard. I may draw her brothers later on. I've made her twin a Bog Wizard, and her older brother... not a wizard. ^.^; Sorry Penn (his name was provided), thought this arrangement would be coolest. Ohyes, inspiration for this drawing from 'Fight Another Day' by Addison Road. I promise I'll post something colored tomorrow, or later this week if I get started too late.

Movie Madness Monday

Yay! Movie Madness Monday is here again! This week it's 'The Lion King', and I drew one of the coolest villains EVER. Scar. Yup, I think he rocks. He's a great actor. (Refer to stampede scene.) I found this amazing picture of what someone thinks he'd look like as a human! I may have to try to draw this guy. He's kindof awesome looking. Link Now, I had some trouble getting started, and the anatomy past the shoulders gave me issues, so I just cut him off. I'll probably end up coloring him tomorrow, just because I can. Now that I'm looking at the scan, I see a LOT of problems, but it's late, so leave me alone.

Flashback Friday...

...On Saturday. Sorry, I meant to do this yesterday, but forgot. I'll be posting the pictures later today, in the meantime, I should be working on some videos I recorded. -.- nyeh, it's so dreary out, I hope this storm clears out soon. Ohyeah, Flashback Friday, last day of the week, looking forward to the weekend. Just to make my life a bit miserable, I'm going to post an old work, and then a remake of it. Just to warn you, some of these are BAD. Not kidding, the proportions are worse than those in the last pic I posted yesterday. I'm looking forward to redeeming myself for such bad performances... Once again, will post the drawings later.
EDIT: Uploaded pics. The new one could've had a darker background, but I didn't really feel like fixing it. You can't really see the galaxies on it either, but whatever. It's MUCH much better than the old one. *shudder* The new one is a remake of a remake of the old one, I intended to compare remakes, but I couldn't find the original one. -.- So here you go. Enjoy, if the first one didn't burn your eyes.

Thursday Three

Yes, three. Of what? I don't know. Anything. This week it's three images of a developing character. I like the second one the best. I really shouldn't have gone so big on the last one, I'm not used to that. Unfortunately the scanner cut off the staff in the first pic, and I messed up the scanning process of the third. Oh well, didn't really like that one too much, except the staff, it looks cool. (For the record, the second doesn't have any hands because I just wanted to see if the dress fit the character.) I credit this idea to my great Aunt Joyce, who sent my a pretty bookmark with crystals on it. I wanted to make a mage that used gems as power boost. So here you have it, Jewel, the Light Mage. Don't really have much about her yet, but she can bend light through the crystals to create a more powerful attack/shield. She doesn't really need the staff, she just has a thing for shiny stuff. She's a bit out of place when it comes to relationships, but she's a successful business woman (she has to be, with the amount of stuff she buys, but she sells it on ebay after a while). So that's all for today. :) (And sorry for the random chibi face on the first.)

Weird Wednesday

This is where I get to post something strange. :) That's about it. It'll mainly be creatures or some other creepy life-form. Or just something random I found amazing. So, here's the Brokenheart I promised, and a link to something completely adorable. Meh, this could've been better. Proportions are all off. -.-
Link to Snowman by Kikariz: http://www.deviantart.com/?order=24#/d2ry1tk
Brokenheart info: A brokenheart is a creature created when a human uses black magic to get revenge on someone who betrayed them. When the human is about to die, their soul is ripped from the body by a demon and the forces it to form a new body. They eat hearts. Yup. Ew. They have three fingers which are pretty much blades so they can cut through the ribs to remove the still-beating hearts of their victims. Their only known weakness is the weapons made by the Openhearts, which are the only ones known to leave a lasting mark. This is why they hate them so much. They will follow one for days waiting for the mortal heart to make an appearance. Then they attack, using their fingers to stab the heart. However, they lose strength when in light, but they hunt at night.

.... I'm quite morbid today. And into glowey red things. Guess you should just consider this a forewarning of Wednesdays to come.

Tuesday Tunes

Now that I'm finished drawing. (It's all sketchy, and I shouldn't have inked it but ohwell.) Tomorrow I may draw the mortal (more like immortal) enemy of this race. Just some stuffs about them; They are practically immortal, but they have what they call 'mortal hearts' that they conceal in their chests. These are the sources of emotion, they are able to reveal them willingly, but if they are wounded emotionally, the hole opens until they recover. This 'mortal heart' is the easiest weakness to attack, so their enemies follow them until they have become vulnerable. Their wings also disappear when the mortal heart is concealed.

Oh yeah, I'm supposed to tell you how all this relates to music.
Well, music is a great inspiration for me. Listening the the same song on repeat helps the idea stick in my head and keep me focused while working. So, every Tuesday I will listen to a song and draw whatever it inspires. This species (and their enemies) were thought up whilst listening to 'Some Hearts' by Carrie Underwood. I don't have a clue as to what to call them, so suggestions are love. I considered calling them 'Open Hearts', but that sounds weird to me. However, if you like the name, it could work.

Movie Madness Monday

Ok, as a test of my ability, I decided I needed to try someone else's style once in a while. Each Monday I will attempt to draw a movie character in the original style, or, if it's not a cartoon, a style that fits the movie. Today, I chose 'The Little Mermaid'. My parents were rather impressed at how well she turned out. And frankly, so was I. I inked in her lines, but left some detailing in pencil. So, here's Ariel, hope you like!
(btw, I used the DVD cover as reference. And I may color later.)
EDIT: I colored. Prismacolor pencil, could've been better, but oh well.

Photo problems

I was going to be nice and post those pictures Jenna wanted, but it appears my computer and camera are having a disagreement, so no pictures. Since it's the weekend, I'm not going to post any artwork, but I will be plot- planning what I'm going to do with the weekdays when I have no good excuse to slack off. All the works you will see here will be NEW. Except on Friday, I've decided I need to post a redo of an old work, so you can see past vs. present ... um, skill. Don't worry about the camera thing concerning my drawings, I have my trusty scanner to help me post those. Just ignore the random rainbow lines of DOOM that like to pop up. Most of the time I can crop them out, but sometimes not. Next post should be Monday. :)

Standard Introductions

Well, I'm AllieCat, or just Allie.
This is my art blog. I shall post some of my creations here. Hopefully, this will help me improve as it makes me draw more often. Hmmm, I must say that I can be quite critical. Of myself and others. So, if you disagree with my opinion of something, the offending comment will be removed. :) However, I openly welcome constructive criticism, also any tips, or links to something helpful. Requests are considered, but will not necessarily be done. Sorry, my talents only go so far as I want them to. Well, I suppose that's it. Bye!
