Tuesday Tunes

Yay! I am a day ahead in this!
Yes, I did this yesterday. Quite simple. But I like it. I had to edit the saturation and whatnot of the scan cause the background came out WHITE... well, almost. So I got to get familiar with the location of the editing tools in preview. :) I really like this. The hair came out splendiferously, I messed up of the inking however, and did a few lines that shouldn't have appeared. -.- ohwell, I covered one with liquid paper, but forgot the other. This was all done in pen and pencil. Go look at the cover for the CD this song (which is the song for this week. it makes me happy) and I'll bet you'll find the idea for this picture. The Generous Mr Lovewell. Yupyup, happysong!
Now, I'm almost done the sketch for tomorrow, and I've done a sketch for next week last night. AND I am working on my technique for completely front faces! :D So expect quite a few looking-straight-at-you pictures. But for now, however, I need to go find a reference for the dress in tomorrow's picture, I can't find out how to make it look like she's sitting.

P.S. Splendiferous is an actual word, look it up!

Sunday Sketches (LATE)

YAY!
Actually, most of these were done on Saturday, but since I'm scanning/posting today, it counts. So, I didn't know what to do with the first few pages of the new book I got, so I decided sketches of characters I figured would pop up again could use a reference. I'm quite happy with how well the pokemon turned out this time. I need to get working on this idea I have for Wednesday... I really need to start working ahead on the weekends now that I've started school. I can't wait till next week. VACATION! woot. Maybe I'll work aheadahead of time so I can set up blogs to post while I'm away. OoooOOOo! I just realized I can do my Brokenheart with marker now! :D funfun.

So, I'm done tomorrows, I'll get started on the weird one after my clarinet lesson... and after I get off the computer. There were more sketches, but my scanner won't cooperate. So you get these girls again. VULPIXISSOCUTE!!!! >w< Anyways, I've finished tomorrows, but I need to get back to work... *sigh*

Flashback Friday

IGOTACOPICMARKER!!!!!!!!!
EEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
ITROCKS!
Sorry, back to english. I got my first copic marker. Red, because I want to eventually finish an all-marker piece of the Minstrel. It's AMAZING! The ink flows soooo smoothly! and you can see any pencilwork underneath. I can't wait, cause my sissy says she'll get me some more!!!! I spent only $4 on this one cause I had a coupon. They're expensive to get, but refills are only $1 a piece. Meh, I'm having trouble staying inside the lines, but I'm still getting used to the bleed length of this marker for the paper I'm using. Speaking of which, I was down to the LAST page in my sketch book, so I took my coupon to get a new one. I was half tempted to get marker paper because it is so smooth, but you only get 50 sheets for $10 and you get 100 for the same price of sketch paper.

....
oh yeah... I'm supposed to have art for you... I really didn't want to do a flashback today... So I'll post an update of that Minstrel I posted a while ago. I still need the colors for her eyes and hair, but she's colored for the most part.
asljfajcmzckn;rgn
the rainbow lines of DEATH got me.... -.- ohwell.

Thursday Three

I really had no clue what to do today, but Jenna gave me an idea, so I'm going to go with it. She gave me the suggestion to draw cats. But I am not all that proficient at drawing them, so I will be drawing girls with cats, to make it easier on poor little me. I'll probably end up uploading them tomorrow, but might get one done and up tonight.
....
I think I just learned an art lesson from a manga...... wow I need edumakation.....

Anyways, I will try to get those sketches done and ready to be posted be tomorrow, or done tomorrow. (I'm behind in things today.)

EDIT: Pictures got finished last night, thank goodness. I'm not all that happy with the last one, but it's fine. It was late, so give me a break. Here they are. Btw, if you want to scan TWO pages, make sure you turn the page before you scan a second time. >.< These are supposed to be of me and my kitty Shadow. Any cat owner should be able to relate to this.

Weird Wednesday

Sorry for missing yesterday. I got caught up reading 'Do Hard Things,' I'm going to make my sister read it when I'm done. So, yes, this is the angel of death I tried to do last Friday. She's a cutie, makes death not so evil looking! :D I know, I'm crazy. The big orb thing on her staff is for the containment of demons, and it also makes for a heavier swing. She has to deal with these guys a lot more than she has to be on assignment for people. AAAAHHHH, I just realized I forgot her poketwatch.... aw. She always has that on her, it lets her know when she needs to be somewhere. When she's on people retrieving jobs, she carries around a list of places she needs to be. As a character, she's quiet and thoughtful, doesn't really smile much, but she's just that way. Sorry for the sketchyness of the thing. And I kindof copped out on the wings. I wasn't really in the mood to go into all that detailing.... feathers have to be the most time consuming things to draw EVER. And she gave me issues with her bangs, so I'll probably have to drag her back out and fix these on a day I feel up to it. And the hands look way too small. BAH. Here's your picture, I'l go gripe about it elsewhere. :P (And no, I have nothing against human ears, pointy ones are just so much funner to do.)

EDIT: Just thought I'd tell you to look at this. It's beautiful!

Movie Madness Monday

Greetings.
I really need to get more of those 2D movies on DVD. Seeing as we threw out all the VHS because the player was eating them. Dx I mean, I think some of the newer 3D movies are brilliant, but I have no idea where to start in the recreation of those characters. This is because there is no guidelines that I could use. I really do not want to go back and draw characters from movies I've already done. Maybe later on, but not so soon.
Well, I has books. Yes, they're good. Let's see, I got the ... 6th book of the Dreamhouse Kings series (thriller), Do Hard Things (Thanks, Ashley for recommending it!), and Graceling (a fantasy from the teen section, bit like Ella Enchanted... but much different).
My sister has been gone for the weekend seeing her boyfriend. It's been wonderful having the bathroom all to myself again. I used up a whole bunch of sparklers. Made me want to draw sparkly stuff. But it was late, so I slaked off and drew nothing.

I like the new template for the blog....

Shoutouts

HEY!
Yes, that is a shout in text form.... whatever.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!!!!!!!
The day where Americans get to fire up the grill and blow things up without the cops telling you you're disturbing the peace. :D Beautiful. So, today makes me happy. Why? Well, DUH, I got a vampire dragon egg! (Yes, I am making an entire post just to brag about this.) It's a little place called Dragcave. I'm half an addict. There was two new eggs released today, so like anybody who knows how these things go, I got one of the new eggs then stalked the abandoned page for rares. I missed this little one a few times before I caught him. (Vampires have a tendency to get booted off scrolls by the other dragons, and since I've had it for about 20 minutes now, I'm think I'm safe.)
So, onto the shoutouts!
I'd like to give special mention to the other users of Dragcave, who use their wonderful dragon-drawing talents to design new species for the Cave. Yes, even the ones that are rejected.
I'd also like to point some fingers at the spriters, who take the designers' drawings and turn them into the icons you see today.
Oh, and one more group, the Writers. Yes, you are artists too. These are the lovely people who put together the descriptions for every species created.
Once more, Ladies and Dragons, put your hands together, for the Designers, Spriters, and Writers, who make Dragcave so wonderfully diverse and fun. :)

P.S. This look is just for today, tomorrow I'll change it to something more... me... blog needed a new look anyway...

Flashback Friday

So, if you haven't noticed, once again this post is artless.

.
..
...
..
.

I tried, but when I started redoing a female angel of death, it turned into a dude.
NOT KIDDING.
I really want to start doing comics... but I need to get a LOT more consistent before I do anything of the sort.
btw
We still have not bought food. -.- I'm going with my father to make sure that we get everything. I had to rewrite the (too long to be a good thing) list in a lovely short hand that apparently, only I can read. Thank you for so lovingly teasing me about how I put the yogurt on the list whilst I was playing my video game, Mother and Cassie. I capitalized them so you remember who I am pointing blame at. What am I blaming them for? ... Good question... In the meantime, I have two birthday checks to cash and a Books-A-Million gift card still attached to the cardboard.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH
I need a new sketchbook... and I want manga paper... and I want copics..... and that set of pens from Staples that I would really appreciate.

This post is getting pointless. I'd better stop now.

Thursday Three

OK! I drew three girlies for yous! Proud? I sure am!
And for the record, if you have never heard of Gradenvior (hope I spelled that right), Persian, and Vulpix, I pity you. Pokemon, just in case. I would've colored them but I didn't feel like it. May do that later. I had to make Vulpix all cute and stuff because she's.... cute... I guess I'm the only one who gets this. Gradenvior's hair was FUN. :D It was quick and fun. I messed up on Persian, though, but she turned out ok.

So, I'm having scanner issues, so it might be a while before I get them posted.... I hope this doesn't take long. -.-

YAY! It worked. ok, happy now. Doesn't even really bother me that the rainbow lines of DEATH came with it! :) I hope this not-having-artblock thing lasts, it's enjoyable!

Weird Wednesday

Sorry, but I have nothing that isn't completely ugly to post today. I'm still working on my story. Just so you know, it's in first person, so it's really hard to keep in the proper tense. But it's starting to come along a bit quicker. I apologize for the lack of artwork, but when an artist can't draw, they can't draw. So don't be pushy, or you'll end up with bad work and an angry artist. In the meantime, I think we're finally going grocery shopping tomorrow. YES!
...
I'm going to get back to writing.

Tuesday Tunes

I'm not sure if I can get something done for today. It's not that I'm not working, it's just not my usual type of work. I'm trying to write a short story. It's really hard for me to write this, because it's such a sensitive topic, and I'm really not in a good mood for lack of groceries in this house. So if you haven't guessed, I'm a bit testy today.

In the meantime, this song is what is keeping me writing.
I really don't like the topic it's keeping me writing about, but I'm feeling led to do this.

Movie Madness Monday

Ok, so I cheated. I just colored last week's picture. OHWELL. My blog, my rules, so there. his main fur color is murder. I didn't have the brown/orange color so I tried to make it.
Two words

Never

Again

I am SO ready to go get some markers! I hope to afford a nice 24 piece travel set, but considering the could cost $50.00 or more, I may be stuck. Also considering the store may not have it, worries me. I work with prismacolor, just so y'all know. Why? Cause I started with their pencils, and they're half the price of copics. And just so you know, the prismacolor markers cost about $4 a piece. I've never worked with copics, but I'm afraid I'm starting to see why they're so good. =(

I hate myself. -.-
Why do I have to look at other's opinions? *sigh* I think I'm going to be looking at copics. I'll wait till there's a sale and wait a bit for that manga paper... O.o I just looked at a set price. I'm gonna go throw up now. Now that I've signed up to get a weekly email from the store I buy supplies from, I hope to get a magic coupon to get a great deal on some markers.

askfjc;akdcznsdcjaen;

I want copics now.

Sunday Sketches

So Friday was not a good day. And Saturday wasn't that great either. I tried, I really did, to get something done on Friday, I was just so unhappy with it I couldn't. I'm sorry, but failing that bad gives me art block, but I manage to bring you these. I drew this on the back of a monthly calendar I got with my bulletin. The very left one I did during service, and the rest were done once I got home. It's very blue isn't it? Once again, sorry for missing Flashback Friday. I will try my best to get something done for tomorrow.

Thursday Three

Well, just two at the moment. I'll update the post when I have my third scan done. I really can't believe I had an art blog for almost two whole weeks and not even posted a single scan of this girl. I call her the Minstrel, for lack of a fitting name, but it suits her well. Her suit is usually a v-neck, but I changed it just for this one. I kindof like it, but will probably end up making it shorter in future stuff. I've been drawing the Minstrel for a looooong time. I've tested all of my potential styles on her. I've drawn her about twenty times in this sketch book alone. She only ever wears this and a little dress. Emphasis on the 'little', it really isn't much of one, but it's cuteand fun to draw.
More about the pictures. The first is the initial character sketch. Very rough and needs some work, but a good start. The second is the ink. Notice I didn't ink the patterns on her clothes, and I added guidelines for glitter on the top part. I also slimmed her neck and torso, which I felt made her look to stocky for her height. I meant to scan it before I colored anything, but colored the skin before I remembered. The scanner ruined my skin tone, btw, it looks a lot less pink on the original (and yes, her face is supposed to be white). Now for the third, I'm just going to color in the black areas of her suit and sketch a background (you really shouldn't ink a background, pulls away from the subject).
I'm going to try to get more markers (I only have this skin tone and black) with my birthday money, as well as some more pens. And, if all goes according to plan, I should have three scans for Flashback Friday. :)
EDIT: Uploaded scan with background. The rainbow lines of DEATH followed, however... -.-

Weird Wednesday

This is how I feel today. I tried and erased about three ideas for today's post, but couldn't come up with something good... Looking back, the pencil's twist is all awkward and wrong and you can still see the head's guidelines. Oh well, I'm not fixing it now. I tried something new with the coloring, it's ok, but not great. For those of you who were looking forward to something creepy, here. Don't know what it's supposed to be about, but it (hopefully) makes up for the lack of weird drawn by me. I just now noticed how crooked the whole thing is. -.- BUTIT'SCOLORED! ... Doesn't really fix it much... I'll try to crank out something of higher quality tomorrow.

Tuesday Tunes

Hello! This is just a quick sketch of (what I think to be) Kale's daughter from the Dragonkeeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul. If you haven't read these books, you should run out of your house and buy them this instant, they are AWESOME. I'm not going to tell you who the dad is, cause it's plot spoiling stuff, and I hate it when people do that to me. You know, when you tell people you're reading a book and they go, 'cool! have you gotten to the (zohmigoodness HUGE plot spoiler!!!!) part yet?' and you go '... no.' -.- Best thing to do, you accidental plot spoiling persons, is to ask what part they've gotten to. Anyways, I have no idea what her name is (there isn't one suggested in the book), but I've decided that she's a Dragonkeeper and an Air Wizard. I may draw her brothers later on. I've made her twin a Bog Wizard, and her older brother... not a wizard. ^.^; Sorry Penn (his name was provided), thought this arrangement would be coolest. Ohyes, inspiration for this drawing from 'Fight Another Day' by Addison Road. I promise I'll post something colored tomorrow, or later this week if I get started too late.

Movie Madness Monday

Yay! Movie Madness Monday is here again! This week it's 'The Lion King', and I drew one of the coolest villains EVER. Scar. Yup, I think he rocks. He's a great actor. (Refer to stampede scene.) I found this amazing picture of what someone thinks he'd look like as a human! I may have to try to draw this guy. He's kindof awesome looking. Link Now, I had some trouble getting started, and the anatomy past the shoulders gave me issues, so I just cut him off. I'll probably end up coloring him tomorrow, just because I can. Now that I'm looking at the scan, I see a LOT of problems, but it's late, so leave me alone.

Flashback Friday...

...On Saturday. Sorry, I meant to do this yesterday, but forgot. I'll be posting the pictures later today, in the meantime, I should be working on some videos I recorded. -.- nyeh, it's so dreary out, I hope this storm clears out soon. Ohyeah, Flashback Friday, last day of the week, looking forward to the weekend. Just to make my life a bit miserable, I'm going to post an old work, and then a remake of it. Just to warn you, some of these are BAD. Not kidding, the proportions are worse than those in the last pic I posted yesterday. I'm looking forward to redeeming myself for such bad performances... Once again, will post the drawings later.
EDIT: Uploaded pics. The new one could've had a darker background, but I didn't really feel like fixing it. You can't really see the galaxies on it either, but whatever. It's MUCH much better than the old one. *shudder* The new one is a remake of a remake of the old one, I intended to compare remakes, but I couldn't find the original one. -.- So here you go. Enjoy, if the first one didn't burn your eyes.

Thursday Three

Yes, three. Of what? I don't know. Anything. This week it's three images of a developing character. I like the second one the best. I really shouldn't have gone so big on the last one, I'm not used to that. Unfortunately the scanner cut off the staff in the first pic, and I messed up the scanning process of the third. Oh well, didn't really like that one too much, except the staff, it looks cool. (For the record, the second doesn't have any hands because I just wanted to see if the dress fit the character.) I credit this idea to my great Aunt Joyce, who sent my a pretty bookmark with crystals on it. I wanted to make a mage that used gems as power boost. So here you have it, Jewel, the Light Mage. Don't really have much about her yet, but she can bend light through the crystals to create a more powerful attack/shield. She doesn't really need the staff, she just has a thing for shiny stuff. She's a bit out of place when it comes to relationships, but she's a successful business woman (she has to be, with the amount of stuff she buys, but she sells it on ebay after a while). So that's all for today. :) (And sorry for the random chibi face on the first.)

Weird Wednesday

This is where I get to post something strange. :) That's about it. It'll mainly be creatures or some other creepy life-form. Or just something random I found amazing. So, here's the Brokenheart I promised, and a link to something completely adorable. Meh, this could've been better. Proportions are all off. -.-
Link to Snowman by Kikariz: http://www.deviantart.com/?order=24#/d2ry1tk
Brokenheart info: A brokenheart is a creature created when a human uses black magic to get revenge on someone who betrayed them. When the human is about to die, their soul is ripped from the body by a demon and the forces it to form a new body. They eat hearts. Yup. Ew. They have three fingers which are pretty much blades so they can cut through the ribs to remove the still-beating hearts of their victims. Their only known weakness is the weapons made by the Openhearts, which are the only ones known to leave a lasting mark. This is why they hate them so much. They will follow one for days waiting for the mortal heart to make an appearance. Then they attack, using their fingers to stab the heart. However, they lose strength when in light, but they hunt at night.

.... I'm quite morbid today. And into glowey red things. Guess you should just consider this a forewarning of Wednesdays to come.
